JAC memberships options

There are two types of JAC memberships: (1) JAC only, (2) JAC + alpine club

JAC only membership
1) Pay the JAC annual fee
  • 30 EUR for adults and children
  • Bank transfer details in the subscription form

Combined JAC + alpine club membership
1) Subscribe to a National Alpine Club

Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) 

  • Where: Nearby CAI branches include Besozzo, Laveno, Gavirate, Sesto Calende and Varese
  • When: First-time registration must be done in person. CAI sites are typically open on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.00 PM.
  • Coverage: Membership includes alpine rescue insurance throughout Europe, for CAI and non-CAI activities. Medical costs are covered only during official CAI activities.
  • Other Benefits: Discounts at CAI refuges and affiliated shops, access to CAI-organized activities and courses, and a subscription to La Rivista del Club Alpino Italiano.

Equivalent Clubs: Membership in any National Alpine Club is recognized.

To ensure you’re fully covered for rescue operations and medical expenses, check the exact terms and conditions of your National Alpine Club’s policy.  Note that the JSIS insurance covers accidents during leisure time, but only for hiking. Under Article 4, coverage excludes accidents related to climbing, alpinism, and other high-risk activities, specifically “(f) practice of the following sports regarded as dangerous: boxing; karate; parachuting; paragliding; bungee jumping; speleology; underwater fishing and exploration with breathing equipment including containers for the supply of air or oxygen; climbing cliffs or pinnacles of rock or mountain peaks otherwise than on beaten tracks, except in an emergency, and subject to paragraph 2”.

2) Pay the JAC annual fee
  • 50 EUR for adults, 30 EUR for children
  • Bank transfer details in the subscription form
3) Fill the subscription form

4) Ask for reimbursement of National Alpine Club fee
  • Send the (1) National Alpine Club proof of payment, (2) JAC proof of payment, and (3) your IBAN details to our Secretary
  • JAC will reimburse up to 45 EUR.
